year of becoming 50
I was gifted a lovely travel journal from a friend several years ago to repurpose into an art journal, and I've been saving it for just the right use. Well, its time has come at last: I'm making it my Year of Becoming 50 journal, in anticipation of that big milestone next year. I've begun transforming it for its new purpose, but it'll still be a kind of travel journal, after all.
The Becoming 50 idea was first suggested by dear friend, Tammy, during one of many, many conversations we've had about intentional living. What it means evolved as we talked, but one part of the idea is to make a list. Things we want to do, to change, to manifest, to try, to let go of, to embody, to plan, to look forward to. Really, the list can be anything, with any number of items.
Mine is a list of 50. (That might seen obvious, but we decided that we shouldn't feel beholden to picking 50 things, that the list should just be what it is.) I've been working on it since my birthday last month, but finally added the last item a week ago. It has fun things and big things, simple things and hopeful things. Things I want to work on, things I want to improve, things I want to accomplish, things I want to transition into, things I want to finish, and things I want to start. Goals, encouragements, reminders, priorities. All about how I'm choosing to go through this year with intention
Today I started memorializing it into the journal I'm creating for this year. There are 50 strips in this pile, each with an item from my list written on it. Into the journal they went, in no particular order.
But even though I just finished the list, I haven't waited to get started on some of the items. The year of Becoming has begun, after all.
Ok, 50. Let's do this.
