The Art Of Letting Go
The Art Of Letting Go
Let what wants to come, come. Let what wants to go, go. If it is mine, it will stay. If not, whatever is better will replace it. - Sri H.W. Poonja
Trees are a recurring motif in my work, and I often think of them as wise elders, patiently teaching us if only we will listen.
Yet the biggest wisdom they have to impart is an answer we often don’t want to hear: release. Release control, release what holds you back, release certainty, judgment, expectation. Release your shoulders, release your tears, release your grip on what matters least. Trees know this: to live, you must simply…be.
I create my “twisted trees” with brown kraft paper, allowing the tree to find its shape as I work. I like the idea that what was once a tree before it became paper has returned to the shape it had in its previous life.
