Chasing The Clouds Away
Chasing The Clouds Away
I created this simple little landscape abstract when I was grieving a loss, overwhelmed by daily life, and felt the need to keep my art practice simple for a time. Truthfully, I wanted to escape, like a kid in a place that felt uncomplicated and happy.
So I did. Because sometimes, we need to let our kid self take charge and just...enjoy. The process, the feel, the color, the moment. We grownups would probably have fewer problems if we did that more often.
As I worked, I found myself singing softly, ‘Sun-ny day, chasing the clouds a-way…’
Later, I remembered the actual lyrics are ‘sweeping the clouds a-way’. It didn’t matter. What did matter was finding escape by getting in touch with that child self for a little while. Singing her heart out, wrong lyrics and all.
